It seems I’m not the only one who is slightly disturbed/amused by various items that the HP shippers and fandom lot have come up with over the past 10 years or so.

Here’s a website I found which is slightly extreme in its anti-fandom, more specifcally Potter Puffs:

To be honest, I find these “Puffs” to be just as “bad” as Manga, just less pretty. I think they’re quite cute actually, on a really superficial level.

This goes all the way back to when adults started reading Harry Potter in around 2001 and publisher Bloomsbury decided to be totally pretentious like these adults and create “adult covers” and “adult artwork”. (Seriously, everybody knows you’re reading Harry Potter; give up on your lousy disguises-I see right through you!)

This particular story follows a fanfic writing fanwoman and her journey through the Internet. It exposes all the scandal she created in order to make herself popular on various Harry Potter fanfiction websites, to become allied with various fanfic writers she admired and to even be promoted to moderator on one particular community website. It is extremely long-10 chapters in all with an afterword but it is definately worth a look. At least dip in and out-it is really interesting to see what types of characters are on the Internet (or not in some cases lol).

Here’s an extract from the LiveJournal. It is factual but makes the Internet sound like giant warzone and it is generally quite humorous. It also makes you reflect at how sad some of these fan people are to spend much of their time scheming on how to make themselves more popular etc.

“Msscribe only spent about three months posting regularly at Portkey.org, but her time there was extremely eventful…Besides her brush with death, she was plagiarized three separate times…had a brief flame war with another apparent sockpuppet, davis_517/Julie Davis (who quickly converted to become another Msscribe fangirl), received abusive reviews flaming her for smuttiness and a tiny bit of playful femmeslash…”

In relation to the adult fanfiction, I have to say I don’t really agree with adults writing sex stories about a bunch of school kids. When you read a story, you tend to imagine it and personally I don’t really want to think of Harry and Ginny having a baby to defeat Voldermort because Dumbledore said so.

So this is basically just a continuation of my earlier blog featuring the “dark side” (wait, isn’t it already “dark”!?) of fandom (especially Harry Potter ones hehe).

I will continually update volume one of Harry Potter Doujinshi and Fanfiction should I find anything of interest that is Harry Potter-related, so keep checking back there.
